The Grand Paris Express project is a titanic construction site launched a few years ago that will lead to the construction of nearly 200km of metro lines in the Ile-de-France region. This project aims to better connect the peripheral territories to each other and to the existing subway network in Paris. The Saclay plateau will thus be crossed by a new metro line: line 18.

What is line 18?

  • 3 stops within the University campus: Palaiseau, Orsay-Gif, CEA Saint-Aubin
  • Travel time to the center of Paris decreases to 43 minutes
  • More frequent, faster trips for more people within the University and to Paris
  • A direct connection to Orly airport in 15 minutes and to the Massy TGV station in 7 minutes
  • A modern metro that will be mostly aerial
